Ever wonder where coffee truly begins and how a simple seed becomes the drink you can’t start your day without? Find out on an immersive 2-hour tour at the Hawai‘i Agriculture Research Center (HARC) in Kunia, one of Hawai‘i’s most important agricultural institutions.

You’ll walk through the journey of coffee from plant to cup, exploring how it’s grown, harvested, processed, and roasted, then taste amazing Hawai‘i-grown coffees. Along the way, you’ll discover the fascinating agricultural science HARC is conducting right now to support Hawai‘i’s agricultural future.

Your tour is designed and led by Shawn Steiman, PhD, a global coffee expert, coffee educator, coffee scientist, and author. He will bring rare depth and insight to every step of the experience.

Tours are kept intimate, with a maximum of 15 guests, so every visitor gets a personal, unhurried experience. Guests 15 or older must purchase a ticket; younger visitors are warmly welcome at no charge when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

$18 from every ticket is donated directly to HARC to support its Seeds4Tomorrow program and the future of Hawai‘i’s agriculture.

This is the only coffee tour on O’ahu.  Don’t miss it!

What to bring

• Closed-toe shoes. This is a requirement and you will not be allowed on the tour with open-toe shoes.
• Water or other beverage. There is water available onsite but, in the middle of the tour, you may want to have access to something you can drink from.
• Sun protection. You’ll be outside for about 30 minutes and the tropical sun can be uncomfortable for some people.

Waiver requirement

After checkout, you will see a button to sign a waiver. There will also be a button in the confirmation email. It must be signed by all tour participants; a parent/guardian must sign for anyone under the age of 18. No one will be allowed on the tour without a completed waiver.
